Apply for primary school places now

If your child is due to start primary school in September 2017 you must apply for a place before 15 January 2017.

All school admissions are handled by Leeds City Council and you must make an application even if your child has bothers or sisters already at school or they are attending a school nursery.

You can find full details of how to apply on the Leeds City Council website and they have produced this video which guides you through the process:

You should have received a letter already telling you which school your child has higher priority at, but you can apply for up to five schools in your application.

South Leeds’ primary schools are generally of a high quality. Ofsted inspects all schools and grades them on a four point scale:

  1. Oustanding
  2. Good
  3. Requires Improvement
  4. Inadequate

87% of our primary schools are Good or Outstanding, with only two of the 23 primary schools in our area graded as Requiring Improvement. As a new school Lane End Primary has yet to be inspected.

Beeston Hill St Luke’s, Greenmount and St Anthony’s primary schools have all been graded Outstanding. Middleton St Mary’s and Cottingley Primary Academy have both been recently graded as Requiring Improvement. You can find a full list of schools below:
