This weekend there is another chance in south Leeds to celebrate Yorkshire’s anti-fascist past.
At The Holbeck on Saturday 5 October Leeds TUC are hosting Breakout Arts for a performance of ‘The Lions of Rotherham’ following last weekend, when the Leeds Civic Trust with Leeds Stand Up To Racism unveiled a blue plaque to celebrate the Battle of Holbeck Moor.
The play is set shortly after the Battle of Holbeck Moor when 30,000 Leeds people stopped Oswald Mosley and his British Union of Fascists from holding a rally at Holbeck Moor and it commemorates some of the Yorkshire men who went to Spain to bravely fight fascists in the Spanish Civil War.
Everyone is welcome on Saturday 5 October at 7:30pm. Get your tickets here: Leeds TUC presents – The Lions of Rotherham Tickets, Sat, Oct 5, 2024 at 7:30 PM | Eventbrite
