Cockburn John Charles Academy opened its doors to prospective year 7 students and their parents on Wednesday 10th October 2018. The evening was well attended by families of the local community who were treated to a cornucopia of activities in all subject areas.
Head of School, Siobhan Roberts, said:
“It was a source of great pride to see our students and staff working so hard to make our next generation of students and their parents & carers feel welcome and excited to join us in September 2019.
“It is a testament to the growing popularity of the Academy within the local community, and the prestige and reputation the Cockburn name offers, that word is spreading about the excellent work that goes on within our fantastic Academy.”
Along with tours of the Academy in the individual subject areas, visitors were treated to a presentation by the Executive Headteacher, David Gurney, and Head of School, Siobhan Roberts who were also joined by the newly elected Head Boy and Head Girl. Together they outlined the rapid progress made over the past 12 months and the steps to further develop the Cockburn MAT’s vision of ‘Transformation to Excellence’.
