South Leeds Live At Home held their belated Chinese New Year celebrations with a lunch at the St Andrew’s Community Centre in Beeston on Wednesday (21 March 2018). The original event had to be postponed by three weeks due the dreaded Beast from the East.
We worked with the Lychee Red Seniors Project through Health for All led by Hua Liu and delivered a fantastic New Year’s Celebrations with dancing, singing, fantastic food and a lion dance. The Lychee Red Group bought 10 members and singers and some of the juniors came and did a traditional dance. The food was outstanding with over 12 beautiful tasty dishes not a spare spring roll was left. Some of our members admitted to never having Chinese food before and really enjoying the food.
This event was a fundraising event for our scheme and was sponsored by DePuy Synthes who support us at many of our fundraising events throughout the year. We are one of their nominated charities and we are very grateful for all the support we get from Kerry Seymour and her fantastic team.
We were overwhelmed by the sell-out event and the support we receive from our members. We have enjoyed the multicultural worked we have done over the year and believe that the scope for more work in our multicultural society is very exciting.
