Each week we publish lists of planning applications related to LS10 and LS11 published on on the Leeds City Council website.
The following applications were validated in the week beginning 11 April 2016:
Stanley House The Boulevard Hunslet Leeds LS10 1PZ
Ref. No: 16/01975/FU | Status: Pending Consideration
Temporary use as residential site for Gypsies and Travellers with 8 pitches for 10 years
Kidacre Street Hunslet Leeds LS10 1BD
Ref. No: 16/01921/FU | Status: Pending Consideration
Why
Is it politically correct in 2016 to refer to travellers as ‘gypsies’?
These are the words used in the planning application. In answer to your question it doesn’t seem to be a problem for Leeds GATE http://www.leedsgate.co.uk, who’s strapline is: ‘Working to improve the quality of life for Gypsies and Travellers.’
I can think of a lot of words I’d like to call the so-called travellers who appear annually on Holbeck Moor and ‘gypsies’ would be at the bottom of the pile!
