An event in Leeds could help council and social housing tenants find their ideal home.
Taking place on Friday 26 February in Leeds Civic Hall, the Big Winter Home Swap will let existing tenants who want to move house learn more about mutual exchange.
Between 10am and 3pm, staff will talk tenants through the process of registering on House Exchange and potentially swapping their home with another tenant.
Council tenants will also be able to find out if they qualify for the £500 mutual exchange incentive scheme.
Swapping homes could be the answer for tenants who need to move to be closer to work or family, get the extra space they need or downsize due to changing circumstances.
Councillor Debra Coupar, executive member for communities, said:
“With such great demand for affordable, quality homes, swapping properties give tenants another option to find their next home.
“Whatever your reasons for moving, this event will take you through all the steps and potentially help you find your next home as well as let you know about other available properties and homes we’re building now that will be ready to rent soon.
“The event or swapping isn’t limited to people in Leeds either – if you want to move to Leeds or need to move away, we can help you find out if a mutual exchange will take you a step closer to where you want to be.”
Staff will be on hand to discuss general lettings, moving out of Leeds but remaining in social housing and people can find out about new homes the council is building in 2016.
Housing association staff will also be at the event to talk about properties they have available in Leeds.
If you can’t make it to the event you can register to advertise your property at www.houseexchange.org.uk.
