Police are appealing for information following an attempted robbery at a post office in Leeds.
At about noon on Wednesday (24 December 2014) a man went into the post office in Old Lane, Beeston, and produced what staff believed was a gun wrapped in a plastic bag.
He demanded money but staff immediately activated the alarm and he fled empty handed.
Detective Constable Tony Thompson, of Leeds District CID, said:
“This is was obviously a very frightening experience for the staff to be confronted by a man who they believed was armed with a gun. The area would have been busy at the time of the incident and I would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Thompson at Elland Road via 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
