Children from the new Lane End Primary School, together with staff from contractors Interserve, held a Golden Bolt Ceremony on the site of the new school last Monday (10 November 2014), when the final bolt into the steelwork frame was driven home by one of the reception class children.
Work is proceeding on schedule with the new school building, which is on the site of the old South Leeds Sports Centre, and the school will open in July 2015 for staff, and in September of that year for pupils. In the meantime pupils and staff are based in temporary accommodation at Cockburn School.
Lane End will be a partner school in The Learning Trust (South Leeds) one of the major suppliers of education to young people in the inner south area.
