[slideshow]Despite the pouring rain, several thousand people from across south Leeds and beyond enjoyed a spectacular bonfire and fireworks display at Middleton Park.
The fire was lit by 10-year-old Middleton St Mary’s School pupil Logan Murray, who won the prize for his entry in a ‘design a poster competition’ organised by the White Rose Shopping Centre.
The fire was massive – and the fireworks display drew lots of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ from the soaked crowds, who gave an appreciative round of applause once the display finished.
The Middleton bonfire was sponsored by Land Securities and the White Rose Centre. The White Rose Christmas lights switch on is on Monday evening.
You can also share YOUR photographs of Middleton Park and other bonfires on the South Leeds Life group flickr pool – we’d love to see them and include a selection on the blog!
