
Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.
We start this week in Hunslet where The Church of the Nazarene host their monthly coffee morning with affordable breakfast on Saturday morning, 10am-12pm. Lupton Street, LS10 2QR.
Leeds United entertain Manchester United in the Premiership on Sunday lunchtime, kicking off at 12:30pm. You can expect the usual heavy traffic and parking issues around Beeston, Holbeck and Cottingley before and after the match.
The Friends of Middleton Park are holding their monthly litterpick on Sunday, meeting at the visitor centre by the lake at 1pm. Equipment is provided.
Also on Sunday Leeds Knights take on the Basingstoke in the NIHL National Division. The ice hockey match faces off at 4:15pm at Planet Ice on Elland Road.
As it’s the first week of January there are a number of residents meetings taking place, starting with Middleton Community Group which meets on Monday, 6-7pm, at the Middleton Elderly Aid Social Centre, Acre Road, LS10 4LF.
The Garnet and Oakley Tenants & Residents Association also meet on Monday at 6:30pm at the St Luke’s CARES Charity shop, 246 Dewsbury Road, LS11 6JQ.
Buy, Sell, Swap is the new version of the jumble or car boot sale and you can take part in one at Manorfield Hall Community Centre, Newhall Road, LS10 3RR on Tuesday 10-11:30am. Entry is free, refreshments will be on sale, get down a buy, sell or swap new and used items.
Stronger Together is a friendly support group for parents, guardians and carers who care for children and young people with disabilities. It is a monthly space to chat and share. The next meeting is on Tuesday, 11am-1pm at BITMO’s GATE, Aberfield Gate, LS10 3QH.
There is a drop-in councillor surgery at Gascoigne House, LS10 4YA in Middleton on Thursday morning 9-10am.
There is a Police Contact Points on Thursday 10am-12pm at the Hamara Centre on Tempest Road LS11 6RD. This is a chance to raise concerns or ask questions of the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team in an informal setting.
Beeston Community Forum meets on Thursday at 7pm at Beeston Village Community Centre, off Town Street, LS11 8DQ.
And finally, Middleton Elderly Aid host their monthly free legal advice drop -in on Friday morning from 9:30-11:30am at their Social Centre on Acre Road, LS10 4LF.
