Women urged to take up free cancer screening mammogram

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women in the UK and screening programmes are available, but currently only half of women aged 50-70 in South Leeds are taking up their invitation to be screened.

Detecting breast cancer early greatly improves your chance of successful treatment. You will be called for screening every three years, a sceening appointment takes just 10 minutes, and you will be seen by a female radiologist.

The Beeston, Middleton and Hunslet Primary Care GP Surgeries are encouraging women who have received an invitation but not made an appointment to act now.

If you are aged 50-70 and registered with one of these surgeries you can call 0113 733 4974 (option 6) or email leedsth-tr.adminBSUseacroft@nhs.net to arrange an appointment:
