Over the weekend (2-4 December 2022) three wonderful murals have appeared on the streets of Beeston created by local children. The pictures show three characters from the Nativity Story on their journey to Bethlehem and are a part of the Lantern Festival which takes place this Friday (9 December).
Mary and Joseph can be seen on Wooler Road next to St Anthony’s Church; the Wise men are on Rowland Road next to Westbourne Avenue; and the Shepherds can are overlooking their flock on Barton Road.
The murals are near to where the Lantern Festival takes place with events happening this Friday from 4:15pm at St Mary’s Church, St Luke’s Church and Rowland Road Club before a parade (featuring animals!) journeys to a final event at Cross Flatts Park from 5pm.
Each “mini event” will provide free refreshments, crafts activities and music as we celebrate Christmas together. The final event at Cross Flatts Park (near the Watsonia) will provide free food, animals, craft, children’s choir and the Salvation Army Brass Band leading carols.
