We start this week in Middleton where Middleton Elderly Aid will be holding their Summer Fayre on Saturday from 10am-2pm. They promise tombola, raffle, cakes & buns, flowers, crafts, refreshments, bacon sarnies with all proceeds going back into the work of the charity. Entry is free and it all takes place at their Social Centre on Acre Road.
There are coffee mornings at Beeston Parish Centre, Town Street and Hunslet Methodist Church, Telford Terrace, off Balm Road, both from 10am-12pm.
The Abu Huraria Mosque on Lodge Lane in Beeston is hosting an Eid Party on Saturday from 11am-4pm with football shoot outs, henna and face painting, arts and crafts, cricket and, of course, food and drink. Everyone welcome.
The South Leeds Valkyries women’s basketball club are celebrating their first anniversary with a free event at Cross Flatts Park on Saturday from 1pm. There will be matches, competitions and a picnic. Join them on the basketball court, all abilities welcome.
The Middleton Park Music Festival returns on Sunday after a three-year break. Bands will perform from 1-5pm with DJ Danny providing fun and games for the kids between the sets. It all takes place on the bandstand near the visitor centre, where you will be able to get refreshments.
Beeston’s new public sculpture, Jacob’s Ladder, will be unveiled on Sunday afternoon, 2:30-5:30pm. Meet the artist Keith Ackerman and BasementArtsProject who commissioned the work on the grassland on Tunstall Road.
Bands In the Park continues in Cross Flatts Park, 2:30-4:30pm with Swing Of Things, but please note that the community dog show has been postponed to next week, due the extreme heat forecast for Sunday.
Hunslet RLFC will continue their push for promotion at South Leeds Stadium where they host London Skolars. Kick off is at 3pm, entry is £15 (£10 concessions) and under 16s go free.
On Tuesday Brickfield Park on Lady Pit Lane in Beeston will be officially (re)opened by the Lord Mayor after its recent upgrade. Kidz Klub, St Luke’s Cares and ParkPlay will be there to ensure that there is fun and games for children of all ages from 4-6pm, why not bring a rug and a picnic?
Leeds Baby Bank will at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library on Thursday 10am-12pm offering support, advice and essential baby items to parents of pre-school children.
And finally it’s back to Middleton where the next pop up session for people living with long term pain is on Thursday at St George’s Community Hub & Library. It’s a friendly group where you can sit down, relax and enjoy some gentle yoga and sound therapy.
