Today (22 December 2019) at around 4.59pm, a vehicle travelling in the direction of Leeds crossed the carriageway and was in collision with another vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
Several people have been injured and taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Dewsbury Road has been closed from Wide Lane to the Tingley roundabout in both directions.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
The closure is also causing delays on the M62 around junction 28.
