Winning start to Leeds Knights playoff campaign

Leeds Knights 8-3 Hull Seahawks

Leeds Knights’ coach Ryan Aldridge will be delighted as his side got their playoff campaign off to a sensational winning start with victory over Hull.

Both sides had chances early on in the match in an end to end game that was largely dominated by the home team. Knights goaltender Sam Gospel was forced into an early save as both goaltenders were kept busy in all three periods.

Goals from Gallacher, Witkowski, Buesa, Hehir, 2 from Haywood as well as a goal from Matthew Barron and captain Keiran Brown, made the scoreline very easy on the eye in an evening of great entertainment at Plant Ice Elland Road.

It was a very open game. With one minute to go the score was 8-2 to Knights, but Seahawks got a late goal to make it 8-3 through Sam Towner. Knights’ goaltender Sam Gospel saved the initial shot, however the rebound fell nicely for Towner to slot the pukk in.

Full time. Knights 8-3 Seahawks

Goals.
Leeds: Haywood (2), Brown, Hehir, Barron, Buesa, Gallacher, Witkowski.

Hull: Towner (2), Chamberlain.
