White Rose Shopping Centre is lifting visitors’ spirits this Blue Monday (16 January 2023) by inviting guests to meet friendly, hard-working dogs from a local Guide Dogs branch.
Research shows that stroking animals can soothe us when we’re feeling stressed or anxious, with some studies even showing a reduction in blood pressure and increase in ‘happy hormones’ serotonin and dopamine when near our furry friends.
What’s more, fMRI technology has revealed that the midbrain region – the area responsible for pleasure – lights up when people support a worthy cause. White Rose visitors will be able to donate to Guide Dogs throughout the event – although a donation is not compulsory for a visit with the dogs.
Steven Foster, Centre Director at White Rose Shopping Centre, said:
“We love any reason to put a smile on visitors’ faces here at White Rose – and we’re delighted to be doing that while supporting an excellent cause next week.
“We’re sure our guests will enjoy meeting the team from Guide Dogs here on Blue Monday, finding out more about their valuable work while enjoying the company of the friendly pups.”
Guests can visit the Guide Dogs team in White Rose’s Central Atrium from 10am–4pm on Blue Monday, 16 January. There is no fee required to attend.
