White Rose celebrates Yorkshire Day with local makers market

White Rose Shopping Centre is honouring God’s own county this Yorkshire Day with a market celebrating Yorkshire-based crafters and makers, hosted in the centre this weekend from Saturday 30 July – Monday 1 August.

The three-day Yorkshire Makers Market will include stalls such as:

  • Laser Hand Crafts‘ handmade bespoke gifts
  • Fairburn Vintage Teacup Candles, featuring beautiful candles inside dainty teacups
  • Stitch and Dangle‘s handcrafted earrings
  • Confetti Girls‘ flowers, balloons, and gifts, plus face painting
  • …and much more

Each of the stalls will be open from 10am–5pm on Saturday and Monday, and 11am–5pm on Sunday.

Rhubarb in a test tube at Rethink Food

White Rose is donating all space hire fees to the Rethink Food Academy, which delivers food education to schools, businesses, and community groups with the aim of improving food security.

Rethink Food will also be joining the celebrations with a free plant-your-own rhubarb seed activity for families to enjoy. While rhubarb is seasonally grown from April until July, the Rethink Food team have had success with growing the plants inside test tubes, and will be sharing their wisdom – and bright pink stalks – with centre visitors.

Steven Foster, Centre Director at White Rose, said:

“We always enjoy celebrating Yorkshire Day here at White Rose, and we’re excited to champion local small businesses this year. We hope to see our Yorkshire Makers Market become an annual event for visitors to enjoy, and can’t wait to see what treasures are on offer.”

White Rose visitors can also enjoy the centre’s summer of Bloom celebrations, including a free vibrant Honeybee Maze in The Village complete with a Bee Family Tree Mirror, Touch & Feel and Scratch & Sniff walls, as well as a large Bee Xylophone – perfect for snapping those summery selfies.

White Rose boasts more than 100 shops including Flying Tiger, The Entertainer, Build-a-Bear Workshop, Smiggle, and more, plus family-friendly restaurants such as Five Guys, Fridays, and Nando’s – all under one roof. With more than 5,000 free parking spaces and long opening hours, from 10am–9pm weekdays, 9am–8pm Saturdays and 11am–5pm Sundays, it’s easy to plan a day out to keep the kids entertained.
