Anyone wanting support refugees fleeing the fighting in Ukraine can donate clothes and essential items (toiletries, baby food, nappies, sterile dressings etc) at the Church of the Nazarene on Hunslet Hall Road in Beeston between 10:30am and 1:30pm on Saturday.
Beeston St Mary’s Parish Church on Town Street and The Church of the Nazarene on Grove Road Hunslet are both holding coffee mornings from 10am-12pm
There are two opportunities to save money and the planet at the Watsonian Pavilion on Saturday 11am-1pm. Firstly there’s the School Uniform Swap Shop, then you can get advice on energy Saving from Our Future Beeston.
It’s Saturday Family Film Club at St George’s Community Hub and Library in Middleton. The free film show starts at 11am.
Imran’s 5 A Side is a football tournament taking place at The Hunslet Club from 12pm on Saturday to remember volunteer football coach Imran Huq who tragically died recently, aged just 42. As well as the football there will be bouncy castles, a barbecue, music, raffles and bar.
Leeds Girls Can are marking International Women’s Day with an event at Leeds Dock on Saturday 12-3pm packed with opportunities to try out different sports and activities including running, climbing, yoga and swimming.
On Monday Middleton Community Group will be discussing anti-social behaviour in the area with the Police. The meeting starts cat 6:30pm at the Middleton Elderly Aid Social Centre on Acre Road.
Asha and Health For All are celebrating International Women’s Day on Tuesday in Cross Flatts Park from 12:30pm. There will be tea, cakes, henna rail gaddi and arts & crafts. Women are encouraged to where some purple, green or white – the colours of the Suffragette movement that help win women the vote.
And finally, Leeds United will be hosting Aston Villa at Elland Road on Thursday. Kick off is at 7:45pm, expect the usual traffic congestion in Beeston before and after the match.
