What’s On Roundup 4-10 January 2024

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

We start with the Volunteers who will be meeting at 10am on Saturday at Hunslet Cemetery, Middleton Road, to carry out various tidying up activities. New people are always welcome and equipment is provided.

The Church of the Nazarene host a coffee morning with affordable breakfast on Saturday morning, 10am-12pm. Lupton Street, Hunslet, LS10 2QR.

Also on Saturday the Leeds Knights take on the Hull Seahawks. The ice hockey match faces off at 6:30pm at Planet Ice on Elland Road.

Kurdish House Leeds have organised a community litter pick from1-4pm on Sunday. This is the beginning of their latest challenge – to collect 5,000 bags of rubbish by the end of June. Join them on Sunday at their new base, the old Golden Lion pub at the bottom of Beeston Road.

BITMO’s Gate will be closed this week, Monday to Friday, whilst the kitchen is renovated. It will re-open on Monday 13 January.

As it’s the first week of September there are a number of residents meetings taking place, starting with Middleton Community Group which meets on Monday, 6-7pm, at the Middleton Elderly Aid Social Centre, Acre Road, LS10 4LF.

Also on Monday, the Greenmounts & Surrounding Area Tenants & Residents Association meets at 6:30pm at Rowland Road Working Men’s Club, LS11 6ED.

The Middleton Life History Group meets on Wednesday at 10am at the United Reformed Church, Nesfield Road, Belle Isle, LS10 3LG.

And finally, also on Wednesday, it’s the Middleton Elderly Aid Film Club. This month they’re showing Educating Rita, the house lights go down at 1:30pm.
