What’s On Roundup 23-29 August 2025

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.

We start this week in Belle Isle at Manorfield Hall’s Annual Summer Fair on Saturday, 12pm-4pm. There will be stalls, food and drinks and performances from DAZL

Saturday sees Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club’s First XI take on Hanging Heaton CC at their Gipsy Lane ground, LS11 5TT starting at 12pm.

Then on Sunday it’s Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club’s annual Music Festival, running from 12-8pm, also at their Gipsy Lane ground, LS11 5TT. The day will include fantastic live music from local talent, delicious food vendors, a licensed bar, kids’ inflatables and family fun. Free entry.

The Hunslet Moor Summer Fun Day is also on Sunday from 12-4pm, with a barbecue, stalls, games and donkey rides. The fun takes place at the community hub on Hunslet Moor, near the purple towers, LS10 5FN.

Hunslet RLFC take on Batley Bulldogs at South Leeds Stadium on Sunday afternoon, kicking off at 3pm. Tickets at: hunsletrflc.ticketco.events/uk

On Sunday and Monday it’s GroveFest at The Grove Inn under Bridgewater Place, LS11 5PL. There will be live music from 1-9pm on Sunday and from 3pm on Monday.

Skelton Grange Environment Centre are holding a Family Bushcraft Day on Tuesday, 10am-4pm for children aged 5-11 and their grown-ups. Get ready to play wild games, tackle exciting challenges and dive into the world of bushcraft – exploring nature, building shelters, lighting fires, using tools safely and even preparing food in the wild. Tickets are £20 per person, from Eventbrite. Then on Wednesday they host another Wild Play day for children aged 8-12 years.

Cllr Wayne Dixon (SDP, Middleton Park) will be holding an advice surgery at Middleton Elderly Aid’s Social Centre on Acre Road on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30am.

At Holbeck Cemetery, Fairfax Road, LS11 8SY, volunteers will be meeting at 10am on Wednesday to carry out various tidying up activities. New people are always welcome and equipment is provided.

There is a coffee morning and bingo at Cardinal Court in Beeston on Wednesday 10am-12pm organised by MHA South Leeds.

Hunslet Remembered is a chance to reminisce and discuss local history on Thursday from 10am-12pm at Hunslet Community Hub & Library, off Church Street, LS10 2NS.

If you’re interested in helping planning community events in Hunslet get along to Hunslet Tenants & Residents Association’s event planning meeting on Friday, 1-3pm at Hunslet Community Hub & Library, off Church Street, LS10 2NS

And finally, Northern Roll, the festival of skateboarding scooters and skating kicks off on Friday with Skate’n’Play at LS-TEN, Kitson road, LS10 1NT from 5-10pm and Rollin’ round the corner at Beaver Works on Whitehouse Street, LS10 1AD from 7pm-midnight (over 18s only).
