What’s On Roundup 2-8 November 2024

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

Volunteers will be meeting at 10am on Saturday at Hunslet Cemetery, Middleton Road, to carry out various tidying up activities. New people are always welcome and equipment is provided.

The Church of the Nazarene host a coffee morning with affordable breakfast on Saturday morning, 10am-12pm. Lupton Street, Hunslet, LS10 2QR.

Leeds Whisky Festival takes place at the Royal Armouries Museum at Leeds Dock on Saturday from 12-5pm.

Leeds United entertain Plymouth Argyle in the Championship on Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is at 3pm and you can expect the usual heavy traffic and parking issues around Beeston, Holbeck and Cottingley.

Meanwhile South Leeds FC will be playing Athersley Recreation in the Yorkshire Amateur League Supreme Division at South Leeds Stadium, Middleton Grove, LS11 5DJ, also kicking off at 3pm.

As it’s the first week of September there are a number of residents meetings taking place, starting with Middleton Community Group which meets on Monday, 6-7pm, at the Middleton Elderly Aid Social Centre, Acre Road, LS10 4LF.

Also on Monday, the Greenmounts & Surrounding Area Tenants & Residents Association meets at 6:30pm at Rowland Road Working Men’s Club, LS11 6ED.

The Library Story Bus will be pulling in to BITMO’s GATE for Story & Rhyme Time on Tuesday 10:30am-12pm. BITMOs GATE is on Aberfield Gate, off Belle Isle Road, LS10 3QH.

Gascoigne House, the new extra care flats on Middleton Park Avenue, is holding its first Christmas Fair on Thursday, 11am-2pm.

Hunslet Carr Residents Association meets on Thursday, 6:30pm, at Woodhouse Hill Community Centre, LS10 2EF

Also on Thursday, Beeston Community Forum meets at 7:30pm at Beeston Village Community Centre, off Town Street, LS11 8DQ.

And finally, there is a Police Contact Point at Cottingley Community Centre on Friday, 10am-12pm. This is a chance to raise concerns or ask questions of the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team in an informal setting.
