
Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.
We start this week at Leeds Dock where they are holding their first Makers’ Market at Fearns on the Boulevard, LS10 1PZ. Discover handmade lino prints, eco-conscious skincare, bespoke illustrations, botanical art and recycled silver jewellery – plus so much more! It’s a treasure trove of fresh discoveries and one-of-a-kind pieces – perfect for a relaxed weekend browse. 10am-4pm.
There’s another Craft Market on Saturday at Rowland Road WMC, LS11 6ED, 12-4pm. You’ll find gifts, crafts, jewellery baking and lots more, plus the Play Patch will be open for children’s play.
Then from 1-4pm it’s the Belle Isle Repair Café at BITMO’s GATE, LS10 3QH. This month the fixers, stitchers and kitchen knife sharpeners will be joined by bike fixers to help you get ready for summer (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult). As usual tea and toasties will be on offer and there will be a Belle Isle Gala planning meeting from 3pm.
Saturday sees Hunslet Nelson’s Second XI take on Heckmondwike and Carlinghow CC Second XI at their Gipsy Lane ground, LS11 5TT starting at 12:30pm. Then on Sunday at 2pm the Women’s First XI play Great Preston CC, also at home.
Hunslet ARLFC entertain West Hull on Saturday afternoon at The Oval, opposite Morrisons. Kick off is at 2:30pm.
On Saturday, the Leeds Playhouse community tour reaches Middleton Parochial Hall on North Lingwell Road, LS10 3SR. The family-friendly show Sisters 360 is on at2pm and 5pm. You can also catch the show at Slung Low’s Warehouse in Holbeck, Crosby Street, LS11 9RQ On Wednesday at 5pm.
On Saturday evening Slung Low host Talking About The Fire, a show about a new nuclear weapons treaty – one that’s trying to give the power to eliminate nuclear weapons to the states, and people, who don’t possess them. It’s a show and a conversation.
Then on Sunday it’s back to family-fieldly theatre at Slung Low as Wrongsemble bring Three Little Vikings to life. Watch three brave little Viking girls save the day in this bold and funny adventure story for little rebels. At 2pm, book at www.slunglow.org/shows
Also at 2pm on Sunday afternoon you can enjoy film scores, dance band melodies and popular classics when the West Yorkshire Brass Band takes to the Middleton Park bandstand. It’s free and the café will be open serving homemade cakes. Organised by the Friends of Middleton Park.
And finally, on Thursday and Friday there’s an opportunity to find out all about Leeds United’s plans to expand the Elland Road stadium and have your say. The drop in event featuring an exhibition, stadium model, and representatives from the design team and the club will be on hand to answer questions. It all takes place at the Centenary Pavilion on Lowfields Road, LS11 0ES from 12-8pm on Thursday and 2-8pm on Friday. There will also be a quiet hour on Thursday from 11am for people with disabilities.
