
Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.
We start on Saturday morning with the Middleton Makers Market, 10am-2pm, at Middleton Park Circus. Lots of lovely handmade items including clothing, jewelery, soaps and food; all made by local people.
Trinity Network host their Community Reflections Café on Saturday 10am-12pm at the United reformed Church, Nesfield Avenue, Belle Isle, LS10 3LG
The Beeston Christmas Tree Festival continues on Saturday 10am-12pm; Wednesday 10:30am-12pm; and closes on Thursday 2:30-4pm at St Mary’s Church on Town Street (LS11 8PN).
Down at Leeds Dock they are holding another Makers’ Market at Fearns on the Boulevard, LS10 1PZ. Discover handmade lino prints, eco-conscious skincare, bespoke illustrations, botanical art and recycled silver jewellery – plus so much more! It’s a treasure trove of fresh discoveries and one-of-a-kind pieces – perfect for a relaxed weekend browse. Saturday and Sunday, 11am-4pm.
Join Slung Low for their annual festive celebration on Saturday. There will be market stalls full of gifts and tasty treats, a live brass band and carolling, hot chocolate and a hog roast (plus vegan alternative). The Christmas Fayre runs from 12-4pm at their Warehouse in Holbeck, Crosby Street, LS11 9RQ.
The South Leeds Community Kitchen will be cooking up a free meal on Sunday, 4-5:45pm, at St Mary’s Church, Town Street, Beeston (opposite Nisa).
Also on Sunday the Leeds Knights take on the Swindon Wildcats in the NIHL National Division. The ice hockey match faces off at 4:15pm at Planet Ice on Elland Road.
Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library host a Winter Wonderland on Monday. Create magical winter crafts, spark your creativity and have fun in a festive atmosphere. Free refreshments through the day, no need to book just drop in, 10am-4;30pm.
A Winter’s Trail is Skelton Grange Environment Centre’s magical celebration of light in our darkest month. Wander along a candlelit trail in the woods and gardens at Skelton Grange and catch a glimpse into the secret worlds of the little folk who reside there… Tuesday-Thursday, 4-7pm.
The SEN-Tastic group meets on Thursday. It’s open to anyone who cares for children with special needs, parents, siblings, carers, childminders and grandparents and offers coffee, friendship, advice and support. The group runs from 9:15-10:30am at St Luke’s Church, Malvern Road, Beeston, LS11 8PD.
Leeds Baby Bank will be at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library on Thursday 10am-12pm offering support to people to access support services, community activity and longer-term support. They also gift families an essential top-up of items like nappies, wipes, formula and toiletries.
Join Opera North for festive music and merriment, with free hot chocolate and mince pies, and sing Christmas songs together. Don’t worry if you don’t know the words, song sheets will be provided. Join in or just come and listen on Thursday, 12-1pm at the Penny Hill Centre, Church Street, Hunslet, LS10 2AR.
It’s the Re:establish Christmas Family Party on Friday, 5-9pm. Join them at The Loft, Crosby Street, Holbeck, LS11 9RQ for raffle, bingo, circus skills, musical performances, creative activities and games for all the family. Your £2/£1 ticket includes food and there’s a cash bar. Everyone welcome.
And finally, the Leeds Knights take on the Hull Seahawks in the NIHL National Division on Friday evening. The ice hockey match faces off at 7:30pm at Planet Ice on Elland Road.
