What’s On Roundup 13-19 April 2024

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

We start on Saturday morning with the Middleton Makers Market, 10am-2pm, at Middleton Park Circus. Lots of lovely handmade items including clothing, jewelery, soaps and food; all made by local people.

Leeds United entertain Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is at 12:30pm and you can expect the usual heavy traffic and parking issues around Beeston, Holbeck and Cottingley.

St Luke’s Church, Malvern Road, Beeston, LS11 8PD, is hosting a free Sunday Breakfast at 9:30am, everyone is welcome to join them for good food and good company.

Middleton Skaters have two roller skating sessions on Sunday, at Middleton Leisure Centre, Ring Road Middleton, LS10 4AX. The 2-4pm is completely sold out, but there are spaces on the adult-only 4-5pm session. Book via the Facebook group.

The South Leeds Community Kitchen will be cooking up a free meal on Sunday, 4-5:45pm, at St Luke’s Church, Malvern Road, Beeston Hill.

On Monday evening the Brickfield Bootcamp fitness sessions restart. They are free, friendly and oopen to anyone aged 16+. 6:30pm Brickfield Park, Lady Pit Lane, LS11 6HD.

On Tuesday evening the Friends of Middleton Park are holding an open meeting at the Parochial Hall on North Lingwell Road, LS10 3SR at 7pm. This is a chance to find out more about the work of the group, here about this summer’s programme of events and find out how you can get involved.

Adventures in Reading is a free book club for children aged 7-11. It will be taking place on Wednesday, 3:45-4:45pm at Hunslet Community Hub & Library, off Church Street, LS10 2NS. This is an event to discover great books, share new stories and explore important topics. From book reviews to group discussions to book themed activities, there is something new to try each month. Each free session is bookable at www.ticketsource.co.uk/leedslibraryevents. Accompanying adults do not need a ticket.

The SEN-Tastic group meets on Thursday. It’s open to anyone who cares for children with special needs, parents, siblings, carers, childminders and grandparents and offers coffee, friendship, advice and support. The group runs from 9:15-10:30am at St Luke’s Church, Malvern Road, Beeston, LS11 8PD.

And finally, Leeds Baby Bank will be at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library on Thursday 10am-12pm offering support to people to access support services, community activity and longer-term support. They also gift families an essential top-up of items like nappies, wipes, formula and toiletries.
