Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.
We start on Saturday morning with the Middleton Makers Market, 10am-2pm, at Middleton Park Circus. Lots of lovely handmade items including clothing, jewelery, soaps and food; all made by local people.
Leeds Dads will be holding another free Soft Play session, 10am-12pm on Saturday morning at Little Angels behind the Tommy Wass pub, LS11 7HL. This for dads and pre-school children and there’s free tea and toast! Book: leedsdads.org/events
Drop in to United Reformed Church, Nesfield Road, Belle Isle for an affordable cooked breakfast at Trinity Network‘s Community/Reflections Café, 10-12pm.
Leeds Brick Festival is a great day for families, collectors, adult builders and every other kind of LEGO fan. With lots to see and do including speed building competitions, large scale displays, activities, traders selling loose bricks, new LEGO sets, retired LEGO sets, minifigures and accessories plus a dedicated building area. It all takes place at New Dock Hall, Armouries Drive, LS10 1LT on Saturday from 10am-4pm. Information and tickets at: brickfestivalevents.com/event/leeds-brick-festival-4
Spooktacular is an informal, family-friendly concert by the Yorkshire Wind Orchestra. They will be playing familiar spooky classics on Saturday 12 October at 3pm, fancy dress is encouraged. 3pm at Slung Low’s Warehouse in Holbeck, Crosby Street, LS11 9RQ. Pay-what-you-decide. Also on Saturday the Leeds Knights take on the Hull Seahawks. The ice hockey match faces off at 6:30pm at Planet Ice on Elland Road.
St Luke’s Church, Malvern Road, Beeston Hill, LS11 8PD are serving up their monthly family breakfast at 9:30am, you can stay for morning worship at 10:30am, but you’re not obliged to.
Sunday also sees the monthly Farmers Market running from 10am-4pm with lots of good food straight from the producers, at Armouries Square, Leeds Dock, LS10 1LT.
On Tuesday from 1-3pm the Leeds Libraries Story Bus will bring its Story & Rhyme session to Parkfield Avenue, Beeston (LS11 7LX) near the children’s playground in Cross Flatts Park.
Leeds College of Building are holding an Open Evening on Wednesday 4-7:30pm, at their South Bank campus on Cudbear Street, LS10 1EF. Information and Registration at: www.lcb.ac.uk/events/open-event-october-2024
The SEN-Tastic group meets on Thursday. It’s open to anyone who cares for children with special needs, parents, siblings, carers, childminders and grandparents and offers coffee, friendship, advice and support. The group runs from 9:15-10:30am at St Luke’s Church, Malvern Road, Beeston, LS11 8PD.
Leeds Baby Bank will be at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library on Thursday 10am-12pm offering support to people to access support services, community activity and longer-term support. They also gift families an essential top-up of items like nappies, wipes, formula and toiletries.
And finally, Leeds United take on Sheffield United in the Championship on Friday night. Kick-off is at 8pm and you can expect the usual heavy traffic and parking issues around Beeston, Holbeck and Cottingley.
