Traffic in Holbeck was gridlocked last night (Thursday 2 February 2017) and the problems are likely to last for some time.
A combination of temporary traffic lights at the top of Domestic Street, the three month closure of Water Lane by Bridgewater Place and several motorway accidents led to tailbacks in many directions causing problems for car drivers and bus passengers.
The works at the junction of Domestic Street and Top Moor Side (and Shafton Lane and St Matthew’s Street) are due to gas main replacement works by Northern Gas Networks. The the temporary traffic lights are due to run until Tuesday 7 February.
The closure of Water Lane will last for three months as overhead baffles are erected to reduce the dangerous winds caused by the Bridgewater Place tower block (aka ‘The Dalek’).
