St Georges Fun Day At THE GATE With Keepmoat

23rd April St Georges day event.

 Venue –         BITMO Gate

Time –            2pm – 5pm

 Age group –    Open

Activities –     Face painting, Cake competition, Cake decoratingBeeston Festival cake, Treasure hunt, Crafts (flag design, colouring, shield making, etc.)  , Nail creations, Raffle, George & Dragon, Computer competition, Hugo & Google to attend, poster competition in local schools.

Free Refreshments – Tea, coffee, juice, Hot dogs

The event has been arranged and is being delivered by a group of candidates attending the current Kickstart programme.  I have put an overview of the Kickstart programme below for you.

Leeds Fed new logo 300x90Kickstart is a 7 week training programme designed to provide candidates with the skills, confidence and knowledge they need to ‘Kickstart’ their career. This is the 3rd Kickstart programme Leeds Federated have delivered in partnership with Keepmoat. This time, we are also working with BITMO Gate to deliver the programme, themed on working with customers in the community and excellence in customer service.  Each candidate will engage in a mixture of work experience, training and the delivery of a community event. (St Georges day funday)

9 customers have engaged with the programme, all looking to improve their skills, ranging from building confidence to working with the public. All candidates are looking to develop skills to help them to find work in the voluntary and housing sector.

Overview of the programme:

Week 1 – equality and diversity training, manual handling, customer care and conflict avoidance and Fire Marshall training.

Week 2 – Community event planning.

Week 3 – work experience, each candidate has a 2 day work experience placement with 1 of the organisations ( Leeds Federated, Keepmoat, Affinity Sutton).

Week 4 – CV writing, application form and interview skills delivered by Igen.cv4

Week 5 –  GOALS training.

Week 6 – Community activity planning, marketing workshop.

Week 7 – Community activity delivery and end of programme presentation.

On successful completion of the programme there is an apprentice opportunity with Keepmoat Property Services that The candidates can apply for.
