St Andrew’s panto group set sail for Treasure Island

St Andrew’s Pantomime Group in Beeston have announced that this year’s show will be a re-telling of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island.

The show, another brand new script written and produced by Rachel George, will run from Saturday 20 January through to Saturday 3 February 2024 at St Andrew’s Community Centre on Cardinal Road, LS11 8AG. This is always a seasonal highlight in Beeston and bookings are now being taken.

The group introduced the story:

“The story begins in the Mermaid Inn. Here the landlady, Hilary Hawkins, and her son Jim, off board and lodgings to local sailors. One day young Jim finds a treasure map and decides he must go to sea in search of adventure and the long lost treasure.

“Meanwhile the evil Long John Silver and his pirate crew plot to steal the map from Jim. They are determined to head to Treasure Island and take the treasure for themselves, and they don’t care who they hurt along the way.

“Will Jim reach the island before the pirates? Will goodness triumph over evil? There’s only one way to find out, so get ready to set sail as we head out on an adventure to Treasure Island.”
