Children are being invited to put on their Santa suits and snowman onesies and take part in a dash to help raise money for young people with learning disabilities.
The Santa Dash, covering two laps of the White Rose Shopping Centre mall, will be held to raise money for Mencap and will take place between 9am and 10:30am on Sunday 30 November.
The event, which covers 1.2km, is open to children aged 12 and under and accompanying mums and dads are also welcome to take part.
The cost of registration for children is £5 and entry forms can be obtained by emailing katie.grocott@mencap.org.uk.
All children will receive a Christmas goodie bag containing treats from toy retailer The Entertainer and Sainsbury’s and a certificate for taking part. There will also be a prize for the child who raises the most money.
Mums and dads who accompany their children on the dash will be invited to make a donation to Mencap.
Leeds Christmas 10k Challenge
Meanwhile Play Fair Events are offering a 10k with a difference in Middleton Park also on Sunday 30 November.
“You will be hard pushed to find a more varied, multi terrain off road course than the Leeds Christmas 10k Challenge. After leaving the springy flat track at John Charles Stadium, “scrooge hill” awaits to truly test your Christmas spirit, then it’s a dash uphill through the trees on woodland paths, before speeding faster than Rudolph on the long descent through Middleton Park. A great opportunity to get cheered on by friends, family and our musical marshals during this multi lap course. Leeds Christmas 10k Challenge is fast becoming a firm favourite with both recreational and club runners alike.”
The race starts at 10:30am and entry costs £12.50 for club runners, £14.50 for unaffiliated runners. For more information visit the website at: fairplayevents.co.uk/lc10k-challenge/
