South Leeds men charged with Midlands motor theft

Two men from South Leeds have been charged following a burglary at a property in Somerleyton Drive, Ilkeston at around 1.55pm on Tuesday 15 August 2023.

A grey Volkswagon Golf GTI was stolen during the burglary, which Derbyshire Police are keen to trace. The Golf has a distinctive red band across the front and the partial registration is MV14, however it may be on cloned plates.

Robert Spaven, 21, of Middleton and Bradley Barker, 24, of Hunslet, have both been charged with burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, attempted burglary and aggravated vehicle taking. They were remanded in custody and appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on 17 August when their cases was adjourned to a future date.

Patrick Harty, 18, of Cross Green, Leeds, has been charged with burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, attempted burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance. He was remanded in custody and appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on 17 August when he was further remanded in custody.

A 17-year-old boy has also been charged with burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, attempted burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.
