The Yorkshire Evening Post descended on Hunslet throughout last week for a daily look at life in the community.
The paper is slowly becoming more community-focussed and representative of our communities, which is good news. Here at South Leeds Life we look forward to continued coverage by the YEP of community issues and organisations in Hunslet and the rest of south Leeds.
If you missed them, here are some useful links to some of the stories they covered:
Hunslet’s role in the development of Leeds and in the wider context of the Industrial Revolution, has gone largely unrecognised.
A £70,000 project to restore Hunslet Library has been launched.
Go behind the scenes at The Hunslet Club. There’s a lovely slideshow of photographs, too. You can also go behind the scenes at Hunslet Health Centre and at Hunslet Festival.
There’s an interesting piece on Hunslet Hawks’ community work and a focus on the work of the good folks from The Friends of Hunslet Cemetery.
By the way, South Leeds Life had a brush with the mainstream media on Friday. We were on Johnny I’Anson’s Friday afternoon Drivetime show on BBC Radio Leeds talking about the blog and magazine and all things good in South Leeds, including the sterling work of the Friends of Middleton Park and Friends of Cross Flatts Park groups.
