Looking for a new challenge? Wanting to demonstrate your skills and learn new ones? As part of South Leeds Life’s (SLL) ambitious plans for the future we are looking for people to take up the following roles: Chair, Promotions & Marketing Officer and Commercial Manager. The first two are a volunteer positions and the third a paid opportunity.
Chair
Would you be able to contribute to the management and help steer the future direction of South Leeds Life?
We’re looking for someone to act as a chair for SLL, which is a fully constituted community group.
SLL’s overall aims are to be the first place those interested in what’s going on Leeds 10 and 11 look for news, information and comment and to encourage local residents to become more engaged in local community activities.
SLL currently manages its activities through a monthly meeting open to its supporters and the person appointed would be expected to chair this meeting.
This is an opportunity to get involved with a voluntary group that has ambitious development ideas, which include the regular production of a local newspaper.
It is, we hope, an opportunity to have a lot of fun as well!
While there are no formal essential qualifications for this voluntary post, the selected applicant will have a commitment to working with volunteers and getting the best out of them and an interest in what is going on in the communities of south Leeds. Knowledge of new media would be advantage but is not essential
The position is unpaid but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Promotions/marketing person for South Leeds Life
Here at South Leeds Life we have some ambitious plans for the future – and YOU could be the person we need to help us move forward!
As part of our plans to make South Leeds Life even better, we’re looking for a volunteer to help raise our profile of our blog, our training courses and our future initiatives (which may include a printed version of SLL).
If you have a good working knowledge of South Leeds, its issues, communities (both geographical and the rich cultural and ethnic diversity of its residents) and are bursting with ideas on how to raise our profile to local people we want to hear from you!
From helping running stalls at community galas to ordering branded merchandise and generally raising our profile, we’re providing a position that should be fun, an opportunity to gain experience and meet new people.
Enthusiasm, reliability and commitment are vitally important. A knowledge of promotions/PR/marketing and is desirable but not essential.

It takes a lot of time and effort to make South Leeds Life what it is today.
As part of our aim to make South Leeds Life even better and financially sustainable, we’re looking for someone to join our team by proving the services of a Commercial Manager to help monetise our blog through advertising and other commercial opportunities, and help develop and monetise future initiatives (which may include a printed version of SLL).
We’re after a dynamic individual who can forge lasting and meaningful relationships with local businesses (from corner shops to big corporate giants) and who understands how to sell advertising onto a hyperlocal online platform (and possibly print).
Enthusiasm, reliability, honesty and commitment are vitally important. A knowledge of community media is preferred but not essential.
We envisage this opportunity being offered on a self-employed basis; remuneration and the specific responsibilities of the contract will be agreed with the successful applicant
