On Sunday (25 July 2021) walkers from the local community joined the South Leeds Lakers Walk to Fitness team at its debut event. There were beginner and intermediate level walks starting in Cross Flatts park lasting an hour.
The beginner group took a stroll within Cross Flatts park, a lovely green space in the Beeston Hill area. The intermediate group took a scenic route through Cross Flatts Park to the bottom of Middleton Woods and arrived at the Middleton Steam Railway station in Middleton Woods in time to see a train pull in. The walks were well received by those who attended. Walking is a great way to get active and meet new people. The team has already received lots of enquiries and requests to join the group and would love to see a diverse range of people walking their way to fitness.
An overview of the Walk to Fitness health walks is available on the South Leeds Lakers Walk to Fitness Facebook page. Walks will take place every Tuesday at 6pm from outside Cockburn School on Gypsy Lane, LS11 5TT, and on weekends. The day, time and location at weekends will vary depending on walk leader availability.
Walks will be advertised on the ‘South Leeds Lakers Walk to Fitness: Members’ page, which is a private group. To request to join the group please go to: www.facebook.com/groups/2671784883035420. If you would like to try a walk before joining the members group, please message the team using the Messenger option on the main Facebook page.
