South Leeds boxers to showcase their skills on Saturday

Boxers who train with Tristan Haynes at his Beeston gym are hopeful that 13 will prove a lucky number as they compete on Haynes Promotions 13 at The Angler’s in Burmantofts next Saturday (13 September 2025). These included Kieran MacMillan who turns 18 on the day.

Rodillian Academy sixth-former MacMillan said “this is the best way to celebrate with family and friends offering vocal support and hopefully getting the win. I started boxing last year. I’d paused my rugby owing to a dislocated knee. I now train three times a week with my older brother. This is my second decision bout after a few exhibition bouts.”

Ben Finlay, 28, has won 14 of 17 Haynes bouts having gone back to the boxing he enjoyed as a child in 2021. “I wanted to lose weight,” said Finlay, “and this was the sport I knew. Tristan keeps me busy and commitment to the sport keeps me from getting up to something less worthwhile. I like the training. I love the action in a fight where I feel calm and comfortable but also excited to win. This will be my fifth defence of my Haynes super middleweight title.”

Leeds Trinity student Gracjan Krupski has his second boxing bout on Haynes 13. “I’m well known as a Thai boxer. I’m looking forward to fighting Bradford’s Kieran King who’s recognised as the toughest of opponents. I’m keen to become just as well recognised.”

Gas engineer Anthony Miller’s son Kyren hopes to become a professional boxer. Anthony himself has just gone into partnership with Tristan Haynes to form Haynes & Miller Boxing and Fitness Gym. “I came to see Kyren train and before I knew it Tristan had me holding pads. Soon boxers were asking me to assist with drills. I’m naturally a quiet person who enjoys helping people and seeing them develop over time.”

Haynes, 31, is from Belle Isle. “We’re about giving well-trained local boxers the opportunity to entertain while showcasing their skills.” Tickets are available from the boxers via social media. Haynes and Miller run sessions at the MSA gym in Sugar Mills Business Park, LS11 7HL. Contact Tristan Haynes on Facebook or e-mail thpaintersanddecorators@gmail.com.
