Two teenage boxers from South Leeds are preparing to fight in a local derby on promoter Tristan Haynes early December show. Kieran McMillan, 18, and Rawa Rashid, 17, will compete for the Haynes Promotions novice title boxing belt at 75kg.
“I came to boxing from rugby,” said Rodillian Academy year 13 student McMillan who’s trained by Tristan Haynes and Anthony Miller at their Beeston gym. “I’ve had four bouts on shows in South Leeds including two skills and two decision fights which I’ve won. I’m determined to put on an entertaining show and win this belt.”
“I now train at AVT in Morley,” explained Leeds College of Building student Rashid. “I started off in MMA and won two contests on the Almighty Fight promotion shows in Leeds, but I also won my first boxing bout on the Haynes show in December last year. Like Kieran I’m keen to win with an explosive display of skills learnt.”
McMillan’s brother Lewis is also fighting for a heavyweight title belt on the show. Cousin and Hunslet resident Leighton Campbell has his third heavyweight bout following a dramatic entry to the Leeds fight scene with two decisive victories this year.
“This promotion exists to give local boxers who put time into intensive training an opportunity to demonstrate skills developed,” said Haynes. “Kieran and Rawa more than fit the bill. The shows are a fun job which allow me to indulge my love of the sport and hopefully those in attendance love it too.”
Contact Tristan Haynes on Instagram @haynes_boxing_promotions or the boxers directly via social media for tickets for the show at The Angler’s in Burmantofts on Saturday 6 December 2025.
