Following on from the success of last summer’s LS11 Art Gallery, which displayed local residents artwork on lampposts in the area, Slung Low, Holbeck’s own theatre company, has launched a new participatory art project.
The Rock-down Gallery will be created by local people decorating cobble stones to brighten up the streets of Holbeck.
Speaking about the project, Ruth Saxton said:
“This lockdown is getting us down. It’s time for a little bit of joy, and a colourful splash of hope. We can’t wait for spring so we’re filling Holbeck with beautifully painted stones, decorated by you.
“We have bought a ton of Scottish Cobbles; enough for every person in Holbeck to decorate one. Then we’ll place all the stones around the area to transform Holbeck into our Rock-down Gallery.
“Let’s fill our community with colour!”
If you and/or your child would like to take part, email info@slunglow.org with your details or call in to The Holbeck, Jenkinson Lawn, LS11 9QX between 10am and 5pm on weekdays, collect a stone and art materials, decorate your rock, and then return to The Holbeck.
