Slideshow: Glorious Hunslet Cemetery in the autumn

[slideshow]Hunslet Cemetery’s had a lot of adverse publicity due to problems with vandalism and anti-social behavior just recently.

I paid it a visit for – shamefully – the first time this week. I found it an incredibly beautiful and peaceful place, steeped in character and history – a real hidden gem in South Leeds.

According to local history website Hunslet.org, the first burial was in 1845, when the cemetery became the first municipal burial ground in the world.
