Police thwart car cruise club in Hunslet

West Yorkshire Police’s Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) foiled an attempted meet up of high performance cars on Saturday night (19 October 2024).

Posting on Facebook the NPT said they learnt of a potential car cruise club looking to hold an event in Hunslet:

“This particular club had previously been linked to events with extreme ASB driving and causing significant damage to the areas they attend costing the tax payer thousands of pounds to repair.

“Working in partnership with our Roads Policing unit, we were able to intercept the 100+ cars that attended the area from around the country and obtained details.”

The group then tried to set up in Stourton, however the Police again foiled their plans, chasing them out of the area. After trying a few other areas in Leeds unsuccessfully the vehicles dispersed back to their home towns after a wasted road trip.

The Police are now working with Leeds City Council’s anti-social behaviour team (LASBT) to follow up by fining the individuals who did not adhere to our initial warning and fine them for breaching the city-wide Leeds Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) which prohibits anti-social driving.
