City & Holbeck Police are appealing for information after a security guard collecting cash from a Beeston fast food restaurant was robbed this morning.
The guard was confronted by two males, one of whom was armed with a knife, outside McDonald’s, in Elland Road, at about 7.10am this morning.
He was forced to hand over the cashbox he was carrying and the suspects left in a blue Ford Mondeo, which was driven by a third person.
That vehicle was later found abandoned in Arthington Place, Beeston, Leeds.
The guard was not injured but was left badly shaken.
The males involved are described as white and aged in their late teens to early twenties.
During their journey from the scene the robbers set off a security device in the cashbox releasing red smoke a dye. Officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw the Mondeo with smoke coming from it or who saw anyone potentially covered in red dye running off from where the car was abandoned in Arthington Place.
Anyone who witnessed any part of the incident or who has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact officers at Holbeck Police Station via the non-emergency number 101: Extension Number 20246 or 20244; or call Crimestoppers, anonymously and in confidence on 0800 555 111.
