Paul and Fiona: a story of love, faith and hope

“There she was just a walkin down the street singin Do wah do diddy dum diddy do.”

Do you recognise those lyrics and can you hear the tune in your head. They are the iconic sound of Manfred Mann and are bound to bring a smile to your lips and a tapping toe. Paul Jones the lead singer and his wife Fiona are making a return visit by popular demand to Middleton Park Baptist Church to share their life story and how their faith in God changed and enriched their lives.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect as they came driving into the church grounds” said the community Pastor Alison Wain. “I wasn’t sure how I would greet two famous show biz people, but they were such a lovely humble couple, down to earth and really interested in every single person they met. I found that they soon got me talking! When they got to the stage they shared their story (both in words and in songs) and it was just fascinating.

“At times their was hardly a dry eye in the house as they spoke about how faith in God had given them hope and peace in the midst of some challenging times. The songs they sang alongside were so powerfully moving. It was truly one of the most uplifting stories I have heard in a long time and it just highlighted the longing we all have inside of us to know that we are precious and significant to someone, a need that is met by the unquenchable depths of the love of God.

“So we at the church are super excited to be able to welcome them back again and to listen again to the inspiring story of faith, hope and love.”

The event is free and will be held on Saturday 9 November 2024 at 6pm at Middleton Park Baptist Church (LS10 4HT) but doors open at 5pm for a free high tea buffet. Cake and tea will be served at the interval and a good time will definitely be had by all. The church can be contacted through the website for more details.
