Genie marries Principal Boy in a twist on the Aladdin tale …
It was a weekend of rejoicing for St. Andrew’s Pantomime Group as they celebrated the marriage of two members who had originally met during the Panto Production Aladdin back in 2007.
Hannah Smith and Dominic Johnstone were married at St Andrew’s Methodist Church in Beeston last Saturday (28 December 2013). Hannah has been a member of St Andrew’s Pantomime Group, who earlier this year were presented with the Duke of York’s Award for Services to the Community, since she was 6 years old, and continued to perform with the Group even during her Degree course at York St John University. She met Dominic for the first time in 2006-07, when she played the Prince in Aladdin and Dominic played the Genie, but then when Dominic’s job sent him down South they lost contact until Hannah’s job, following graduation, also took her Southbound.
The wonders of social media brought them back together and since Hannah went to see Dominic play the lead in Half a Sixpence in London they have been inseparable.
They still keep in touch with the Group and the Groom’s speech on their big day officially awarded responsibility for their first meeting to the Panto. So next up for St Andrew’s could possibly be “PantoMatch.com” the new Panto dating agency!
Despite Hannah and Dominic now living in the South the Group continues to go from strength to strength here in South Leeds and will be performing their 2014 Pantomime, Red Riding Hood, from Saturday January 11 through until Saturday 25 January at St Andrew’s Community Centre, Old Lane, Beeston LS11 8AG.
Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children – Matinee performances start at 2pm and evening performances at 7pm. Please call 07443 571868 to book tickets.
Come and see us perform Red Riding Hood – it’s a great night out for all the family!
