Hunslet’s newest hair salon received a visit from Hilary Benn MP on Small Business Saturday (6 December 2014).
Quintessential, on Church Street has been open just five days, after local business women Dawn Picken and Annabel Walsh. Quintessential complements Dawn’s other salon in the Penny Hill Centre meeting the needs of a different clientele.

The unit was converted in just four weeks by team including family members and local builders led by DC Plumbing. When they removed the suspended ceiling they revealed a higher, wooden ceiling dating back to the building’s original use as a Temperance Hall. The ceiling gives the salon a warm, spacious feel.
Hilary Benn MP said
“I congratulate Dawn and Annabel for establishing this new business which I hope will be supported by local people. I’m impressed by their energy, juggling children and existing businesses to set this up and create three new jobs.
“This is exactly what Small Business Saturday is about. Supporting local people and local businesses.”
Annabel Walsh
“We’ve worked hard to get to this point and would like to thank our friends and families. We hope we will inspire other local traders to raise their game and give Hunslet a lift.”
Quintessential is open seven days a week for hair, beauty and tanning treatments. Call (0113) 345 6006.
