There was standing room only at St Lukes Church last night as the new Vicar of Holbeck and Hunslet Moor was welcomed to the Church at a special service presided over by The Bishop of Ripon and Leeds.
Revd. Alistair Kaye is no stranger to the area and in his previous role as Missioner in South Leeds has worked closely with Cottingley and Middleton Churches and many local African congregations. For the past 4 years he has acted as chair of St Lukes CARES, and helped develop the work of the KIDZ Klubs in Beeston and Middleton.
During the service, Alistair was welcomed by local Community leaders, including Councillor Angela Gabriel and the chaplain at Leeds United, Paul Welch.
As a special gift, Children from St Lukes School together with Cockburn High School had designed and made a stained glass window which was presented during the service. The window will be installed in a side chapel in the Church later on in the year.
Dave Florence, Churchwarden, said everyone was thrilled that Alistair had come to work at St Lukes and the church people were looking forward to an exciting future under his leadership.
Fabulous night and a wonderful warm welcome formally to Alistair and family…
