White Rose Shopping Centre is hosting a day of free Cake Yoga workshops in a bid to combat Blue Monday on 21 January – said to be the ‘most depressing day of the year’.
The yoga sessions will take place throughout the day, and will be run by London-based ‘Ms Holistic’, who is a trained nutritionist. Each workshop will last for 45 minutes and will incorporate a low-sugar, vegan cupcake into the balances. There are two flavours to choose from: either banana or carrot, hand-made by Louise Byrne of Luvelia.
Attendees must pre-book to attend the free sessions, which will focus on breathwork and movement. The workshops aim to brighten up Blue Monday, said to be depressing because of the cold and dark weather weather, post-Christmas blues, and return to work.
Steven Foster, General Manager of White Rose Shopping Centre, said:
“The happiness and wellbeing of our visitors is our priority all year round, but we wanted to go the extra mile this Blue Monday. It’s well-known that gentle exercise can greatly improve the mood as well as physical health – and a homemade cupcake is the cherry on top.”
Yoga instructor Ms Holistic added:
“The sessions will pair the philosophies of yoga with the pleasure of eating cake to reach the highest level of consciousness. We’d love to see Leeds locals join us as we put the ‘om’ in ‘nom’ at the most fun yoga class of the year. The classes are completely open, so suitable for any level of yoga experience.”
Events take place in the Central Atrium at White Rose on Monday 21 January 2019, with sessions at 10–10:45am, 12:30–1:15pm, and 5:30–6:15pm. To book, visit white-rose.co.uk/cakeyoga
