Middleton Railway’s Community Day

Middleton Railway will hold its annual Community Day on Saturday 18 April 2026 at its Moor Road base in Hunslet.

This is a great opportunity for local groups to share their activities with the public and recruit new volunteers to help run things.

Last year groups such as the Friends of Middleton Park, The Hunslet Club, South Leeds Lakers, Middleton Park Equestrian Centre and Hunslet RLFC had stalls in the display hall where they could talk to railway visitors. The Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Fire Brigade were also in attendance along with local councillors.

Charles Milner, Chair of Middleton Railway Trust said:

“The whole event is very informal and casual and hopefully provides a good platform for local organisations and groups to promote themselves and what they offer to the community and to talk to each other in a relaxed setting.

“The Trust really would like to use this day not just to help the recruitment of volunteers to work on our Railway but also to help other South Leeds groups recruit volunteers and tell visitors what they are about. A robust and resilient South Leeds Community is very much to the Railway’s benefit and we want to do what we can to assist in that objective.”

If you are part of a local organisation that would like a stall at the event please contact info@middletonrailway.org.uk.

The railway is currently closed for winter maintenance, but reopens on Saturday 4 April.
