Georgia Myers was a young woman with her life ahead of her when she tragically took her own life two years ago, the day before her sixteenth birthday. As we reported at the time, the community was shocked and rallied round to fundraise in her memory.
Yesterday (9 November 2020) in Leeds Crown Court we found out what drove Georgia to suicide, when Michael Steven Paul Jenkins, 32, from Middleton, pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual activity with a child.
Jenkins knew his victim, Georgia Myers, who was the half sister of his girlfriend and auntie to his children. When that relationship broke up in 2016 he started seeing Georgia. The offences took place between 1 April 2017 and 28 February 2018.
Jenkins broke up with Georgia telling her he had got another young woman pregnant. Tragically Georgia then took her own life the day before her 16th birthday.
Jenkins has been remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on 18 December 2020.

Finally getting justice for our beautiful girl. I wish she was here with us to see it. Love you Georgia
His time in prison will never be enough and I’ll never get my beautiful daughter back but at least he’s off the streets and can’t do this to any other girl again..
He’s labeled for life and forever on the sex offender register
