Work is set to start on building the new Middleton Asda in April next year, South Leeds Life can reveal.
The development, which will deliver 375 jobs, has been dogged by delays over the years, including wrangles over land ownership, the relocation of existing businesses and the construction of a new access road to the nearby waste recycling centre. Earlier this year Asda applied for revised planning permission to alter the layout of the site.
But in a statement released by Asda today, a spokesman said:
“We have now received the necessary permissions and land ownerships to commence our new store development in Middleton in April 2013.
“The development will feature a brand new Asda store creating up to 375 jobs in the local area.
“The store will offer a full range of Asda products including our popular George Clothing range. Jobs will be advertised through our website www.asda.jobs and in conjunction with JobCentre Plus.”
We’ll keep you informed of future developments.
