Make Time for a Cuppa with Dementia UK
Locals hold tea party to raise funds to help families face dementia
The cakes are baked and the kettle’s bubbling because it’s Time for a Cuppa at BITMOs Gate on Wednesday 1 March 1pm. Aberfield Gate, Belle Isle, Leeds LS10.
Immediately after Bitmo Gate Walk and Talk Kenneth Ingram and Carla Yeomans is throwing a Time for a Cuppa tea party, to help raise funds for more much-needed Admiral Nurses, who are specialist dementia nurses. Dementia UK helps families to face dementia, and the charity’s mission is to ensure that there is an Admiral Nurse for everyone who needs their vital expertise.
There will be a collection box on the day for your donations. Please also bake a cake, buns and bring along. I will be baking my famous chocolate cake.
Ken says: “There are few things better than tea and cake with family and friends, old and new. We’re holding a Time for a Cuppa tea party so we can raise awareness and funds for Dementia UK, the only UK charity offering specialist one-to-one support and advice to people living with dementia and their families. Admiral Nurses are specialists providing practical, clinical and emotional support directly to families living with dementia, so they don’t have to face it alone.”
Ken says: “Everyone who knows me that I have Dementia and is getting worse. I’m in the lucky position that I have friends who are helping me with this, Carla at BITMO’s Gate. Chris and Julie Holmes, from various volunteer groups. Peter Smith BEM and Amanda Binns. There are loads more to mention by name, you know who you are:
Dr. Hilda Hayo, Chief Admiral Nurse at Dementia UK said:
“We know that living with dementia can be a hard and lonely experience. Admiral Nurses work together with families to come up with the practical solutions they need to live more positively with dementia each and every day. Time for a Cuppa tea parties help us raise the essential funds to create more Admiral Nurses and we’re very grateful to everyone who holds one.”
