The new look Hunslet Festival takes place on Saturday 29 June, 11:30am-4pm on the Church Street field next to Hunslet St Mary’s Primary school.
Hunslet Festival is an annual event taking place in June and is a fantastic celebration of the community and features an array of attractions including dance and musical performances in our arena, a range of attractions and a diverse range of stalls from local community groups and businesses.
2024 sees a name change from “Hunslet Gala” to “Hunslet Festival” is the first event under a new organising committee who have tried hard to build on the strong foundations laid here from an established event whilst freshening up the event with some new ideas.
There are plenty of FREE activities for children and families to enjoy including:
- Climbing wall provided by Herd Farm
- Circus skills workshop from local favourite Rapide Entertainment
- Ellenbeck Farm are bringing a range of animals for stroking, cuddling and feeding
- The Tetley and Swarthmore are providing a range of interactive arts & crafts activities.
- Cycling UK are hosting a range of bike themed activities including free bike repairs and skills training
- Hunslet RLFC mascot Harry the Hawk will be making an appearance alongside some of the players
- Leeds Youth Service will be bringing their Youth Bus & some activities for children and young people
- Hunslet Fire Station will be attending with a fire engine – giving guests a chance to try on uniform, sit in the cabin and press the siren!
- West Yorkshire Police are bringing a Police van and other equipment for kids to have a try on. And another siren.
Alongside these will be a range of fantastic performances in the arena throughout the day including professional performers and community groups. Dance groups, musical performances, a choir and sports showcase are all booked in.
Around the site there will be a broad variety of stalls from community groups and local businesses.
Food will be served by “Bute Pizza” and also local caterer Shazia Akhtar will be providing a range of Asian cuisine. And of course ice cream will be available!
Fairground rides and inflatables will also be on offer for a small fee.
All in all an action packed day is on store. Bring your family, friends and neighbours. Please join us as we celebrate our community together in the sunshine (fingers crossed!)
