A new project to help people make their local areas greener and nicer places to live will be launched at the Hemingways estate in Hunslet at a fun-packed family event on Wednesday (30 October 2013).
Project Urban Oasis aims to inspire people to improve and develop pockets of green space on their doorstep through practical activities such as clean ups, planting and food growing.
The half term event will kick things off with an estate tidy-up, pumpkin carving, games and bulb planting, with an opportunity to meet Ronnie the Rhino, Leeds Rhinos’ larger than life mascot. Residents will also be invited to have their say about planned improvements on the estate.
Residents are invited to drop in to the event at Hemmingway Garth, any time between 9:30am and 3:30pm.
Project Urban Oasis is being funded by Mears and delivered by Groundwork in partnership with Housing Leeds.
